Milestone XProtect product

ViewsSync for XProtect

Views-only tool — build or copy Smart Client Views on Parent from folders or existing Views, with camera remapping for Interconnect / Federation.

When do you need ViewsSync?

When Parent has dozens or hundreds of cameras and building Views manually in Smart Client becomes a bottleneck — especially after Interconnect onboarding or when copying structure from a Federation Child.

ViewsSync builds Views from folders, copies existing Views with camera remapping, and can dry-run before it creates anything. It does not sync hardware or GPS. That is SiteSync.

Core capabilities

  • Create Views from camera folders on the connected server
  • Create Views from remote Interconnect site folders
  • Copy Views from Federation Child to Parent with camera remapping

Options

  • Max cameras per View + automatic splitting
  • View Group name / nest under an existing group
  • Preserve source hierarchy
  • Select sites / Views to copy
  • Dry-run (log only, no creation)

Where it sits

SiteSync can optionally create Views from a folder tree. ViewsSync is the tool when Views are the whole job: folders on the connected server, folders on a remote Interconnect site, or a copy from a Federation Child onto Parent with camera remapping. Live video that is not already a camera in XProtect is StreamBridge. A custom MIP plugin is Milestone development.

Questions about ViewsSync

Does ViewsSync also sync hardware and folders?

No. That is SiteSync. ViewsSync only handles Smart Client Views.

What is a dry-run?

Log only. You see what would be created without changing Parent. Useful before a production run.

Can we limit how many cameras sit in one View?

Yes. Set a maximum per View and the tool splits the rest into further Views.
